Content

This module provides a comprehensive overview of the sociological, psychiatric, psychotherapeutic, and ethical aspects of gender diversity. Key topics include the reproductive health and family planning experiences of trans and gender-diverse people in Switzerland, as well as current developments in gender-affirming surgery, complemented by a personal testimony.

Additional topics include intersectionality and public health, with a particular focus on the impact of stigma, discrimination, and barriers to healthcare access on health and well-being. Current research findings and the available evidence base are critically discussed, alongside the role of hormones in gender affirmation.

A special highlight of the programme is a panel discussion with three trans individuals, who will share insights into their lived experiences, challenges, and expectations of society and the healthcare system. The module concludes with a joint reflection on key takeaways and open questions, aiming to inspire more inclusive healthcare practices and a more inclusive society.
